The website extratime.az reports that the Azerbaijani team won't play at the World Cities Team Championship with its strongest composition. The tournament will take place in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. Teimour Radjabov and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov won't be able to play for the team because of the intellectual games they will be participating in: the games will take place in Beijing and finish on December 20, while the championship is scheduled to start on December 21. Here's the Azerbaijani team composition: Rauf Mamedov, Eltaj Safarli, Gadir Guseinov, Vasif Durarbeyli and Nijat Mamedov.

World Cities Team Championship has been put by FIDE in the calendar recently and quite unexpectedly. The competition is scheduled to be held from December 21-29 in an unusual formula: 32 teams will be put in 8 groups (4 teams in each group), then two best teams from each group will continue the fight on the next stage in knock-out system.

Other leading members of the national teams, including the favourites, are also planning to participate in the intellectual games in Beijing.
