Boris Gelfand gained a very important win over Rustam Kasimdzhanov in the last round of the Grand Prix London. This helped him to share 1-3 places and to gain 140 Grand Prix points - the same amount of points went to Mamedyarov and Topalov.

Gelfand gave a short commentary to the official website of the competition after the game. He mentioned the moment when he blundered:

GELFAND - KASIMDZHANOV

14.b4? "If Rustam has made an intermediate move 14...Bc6, I would stand worse (for instance, 15.Nd6 would be followed by 15...Bxf3 16.Bxf3 Be5 - bishop turned out to be useful - CN). However, he took on a1 and I had full compensation for the exchange. I would assess it as a "better" position for White. Later I experienced time trouble, but I guess I didn't miss my advantage."

Gelfand noted that it's important to take a good start in the Grand Prix Series. "I started unsuccessfully in the last Series and continued playing bad later. It's also important that this is the first time I playing in London, so I gained only pleasant impressions from the tournament. This is a great city, where I feel myself excellently. I should play here in March, how pleasant it is to get back to the place where the good result was shown."
