A quick draw was registered in the encounter of the leader Mamedyarov against Wang Hao. Azerbaijani GM again played Caro-Kann defence with Black. In the classical line Wang Hao made a "side" move 5.Nc5.

"I was a bit surprised, - Mamedyarov admitted in the commentary given to the official website. - I forgot my analyses, however, I still recalled some parts of it: for instance, move 5 -  5...е5. I also remembered the game Khairullin - Dreev in which Black got a comfortable position. I played correctly up to some moment, but I don't know if 14...Bg6 was a good reply to 14.Nd4.Maybe 14...Be4 was better (that's how Dreev played in the mentioned game last year - CN). After 15.Rc1 Re8 16.Bc4 I made a very good move 16...Nbd7, Black doesn't have problems after it.

"I didn't think he would play the variant with 5...е5, - Wang Hao noted, - I couldn't remember analysis against 14...Bg6. Shakhriyar played brilliantly, he solved all the problems by playing 16...Nbd7. If he has played 18...Kf8 I would have some complications, but I still think that would be a draw."
