Vladimir Tukmakov: Azerbaijan Could Hardly Overtake The Russian Team In That Situation

Azerbaijan head coach Vladimir Tukmakov in his interview to extratime.az shared his opinion about his team match against Russia in round seven:

"There was nothing special in white games that we had against Russia. Rauf Mamedov managed to solve black problems with ease and had no serious difficulties further on. As for Eltaj Safarli, he decided to repeat his game from the previous round when he faced Palac from Croatia. As a result of this he had only two results ahead, depending on whether Grischuk is able to push his advatage up to the end. The position was quite suspicious from the evry beginning and Mamedov wasn't able to show good defence though, having not used all his defence chances. The milestone of his result was due to his expectations that Grischuk would choose 1.d4, however Alexander played 1.e4. In my opinion we had no chances for victory in that match"
