Several dozens of Istanbul chess Olympiad participants asked Kirsan Ilyumzhinov to settle the situation related to the chief editor of the Chess-News site Evgeny Surov. Every day the organizers actions are becoming more and more unusual and silly. First he was not given any acreditation, then he was not let in through the security control and now he is asked not to stay outside in front of the playing hall entry. The Fide President has not yet commented on this issue, apart from a short reply to Vasily Panin, in which Ilyumzhinov gives the organizers a chance to take decisions themselves.

The Open letter was initially signed by 48 players and coaches and every hour their number is increasing. Among them are Levon Aronian, Veselin Topalov. Alexey Shirov, Ruslan Ponomariov, Gata Kamsky, Peter Leko, Ansh Giri, Alexander Onischuk, Loek Van Wely, Sergey Zhigalko and Vladimir Tukmakov. Vladimir Kramnik gave an independent opinion.

If you are a chess player and agree with the letter you can join those who have already siged it. You can make it here, on our facebook page.
