The official Newsletter of the European Chess Union informs about some of the decisions approved at ECU Board meeting in Bastia. It was held on June 7th-8th and was organized by the President of the Corsican Chess League, Mr. Leo Battesti.

The ECU Board decided to extend the deadline for one month for the ECU competitions for which the bid failed or all the bids are considered not to be qualified.

The Bids of the Turkish Chess Federation for the European Club Cup 2014 and the European Team Championship 2015 are not valid because they reached the ECU office after the deadline. The bids were sent on 01 May 2012 at 10.19 PM CET.

As there was only one bid and the venues are well known, the Board already awarded the following competitions:
European Team Championship 2015 to Reykjavik, Iceland
European Individual Championship to Yerevan, Armenia
European Youth Championship U8 – U18 to Tbilisi, Georgia
European Senior Team Championship to Sibenik, Croatia
(The Bid fee was not paid by the Bidder from Porto Carras, Greece)
European Individual School Championship to Kalithea, Greece
(Croatian Chess Federation withdrew their bid)

*CN has already reported that the European Chess Championship 2014 will be held in Erevan, Armenia.
