It seemed that the leader Alexander Morozevich with 4.0/5 had all chances to celebrate victory in Round 6 of the Tal Memorial.

In the opening stage of his encounter against Hikaru Nakamura the Russian player sacrificed his pawn for the initiative (17.Be3), following GM Salov's recommendation published in Chess Informant.

After 23.f5! it was evident that white has a quite dangerous attack and not many believed in American finding the way out in this hard position.

Finally American Nakamura found out it: 23...Nxf5 24.Bg5 Qe8, planning to give away his queen for a rook and a piece after 25.Rd8.

Morozevich could have continued attack by 25.Bf6 but he chose probably not the strongest continuation 25.Qf4, letting his rival to free the position 25...f6.

After a mistake 29.Nxc5? instead of the correct continuation 29.Ng5 the position has changed.

However, Russian finally spoilt his position by the mistakes made before the control, especially after 40.Qe2?. After 40...Nd5 and a forced 41.Qd3 black's accurate 41...a4 didn't leave white any chances. (Mikhail Golubev's commentary).
