Dmitry Andreikin Overtook 13 GMs in Blitz and Won the Nesis Cup

This year's Nesis Cup Grandmaster Rapid Chess Tournament, was dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the famous chess specialist and to the 40th anniversary of coaching and teaching activities of FIDE Senior Trainer, Merited Master of Sports, professor Gennady Nesis. The tournament held in Kirishi gathered 28 players, half of which were GMs.

The participants in some way were related to the ongoing junior tournament. 8 out of 12 participants decided to continue playing on a free day and only young foreign guests preferred to have an excursion in Novgorod. GM Dmitry Andreikin the tournament scoring 8.5, Rauf Mamedov, Alexander Shimanov and Ildar Khairullin stayed half a point behind the winner. 

The event was visited by an honored guest, Gennady Nesis's long-term ward, FIDE World Champion 1999 Aleksander Khalifman.
