Boris Gelfand Meets Israeli Minister and Expects Support of the Muscovite Chess Fans

Before leaving for the training session in Austrian Alps, the challenger of the World Champion, Boris Gelfand met Israeli Minister of Culture and Sport Limor Livnat. The Minister wished Gelfand luck in the match and promised to support and pray for him, as well as to follow the competition. Gelfand presented the Minister handmade chess with Jewish symbols. Gelfand and Livnat's nominal game finished in a quick draw. 

After conducting phone talks with the Minister of Communication, Livnat assured that they have reached an agreement with regard to creating the postage stamps with Gelfand's portrait. Gelfand expressed hope that his participating in t he match will an impulse for the development of chess in Israel. Besides that, Gelfand gave an interview to the TV program "Contact". The report contains shots of Gelfand analysing chess positions - those actually didn't look like the "opening novelties". Answering a quite direct question, Gelfand expressed an opinion that most of the Moscow chess fans will be supporting him. The challenger hopes that he'll get inspired surrounded by the famous paintings.
