The game of the day: Solak - Ju Wenjun

The 4th round of Aeroflot Open was a rich day with a lot of interesting draws. The encounter between newly fledged Turkish Champion Solak and one of the strongest Chinese women players Ju Wenjun finished in a draw. Sicilian defence took place and Black again went on the variation which is already named after Chinese player.

SOLAK - JU WENJUN
Aeroflot Open 2012, Round 4

Sicilian Defence
1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 3.d4 cxd4 4.Nxd4 Nf6 5.Nc3 a6 6.Bg5 e6 7.f4 Be7 8.Qf3 Qc7 9.O-O-O Nbd7 10.g4 b5 11.Bxf6 Nxf6 12.g5 Nd7 13.f5

13...O-O!?
This rare move hardly attracted attention before Ju Wenjun played it three time against Russian players in 2011!
14.f6
14.h4 took place in Savchenko - Ju Wenjun where Black won (Round 2, Aeroflot Open 2012). Solak followed Alexei Shirov's choice.
14...gxf6 15.gxf6 Nxf6 16.e5 dxe5 17.Nc6 Bb7!N
A novelty, as predicted. 17...Kh8?! is inaccurate, Shirov - Huschenbeth, Bundesliga 2012.
18.Qg3+ Kh8 19.Nxe5

19...Bd6
19...Bd8 is also possible.
20.Rxd6 Bxh1 21.Rd1
In the case of 21.Qg5 Black can achieve draw: 21...Ng4 22.Nxg4 f5 23.Ne5 Qxd6 24.Ng6+ fxg6 25.Qh6+ with perpetual check. The further competition didn't reveal the winner. As it's usually assumed in such cases, Black gained the moral victory.
21...Rac8 22.Bd3 Bb7

23.Qg5
On 23.Bxh7 besides 23...Nxh7 24.Rd7 Black also have an astounding move 3...Bf3(!).
23...Ng8 24.Bxh7
After 24.Qh4 Black should play 24...f5.
24...Qe7!

I got an impression that computer equalized a man and a woman. Yet not finally. In a single case of a chess game.
25.Qh5 Nf6 26.Qh4 Ng8 27.Qh5 Nf6 28.Qh4 Ng8 29.Qh5 Nf6 30.Qh4 1/2-1/2
(Mikhail Golubev's express commentary).
