Moscow Prepared a Tournament For Nona Gaprindashvili’s Anniversary

The champion with a civil attitude

The Central House of Chessplayer named after Mikhail Botvinnik is hosting a tournament in honor of the 70th anniversary of the legendary Georgian chessplayer Nona Gaprindashvili. The tournament was planned to be held in May as long as the 5th World Champion was born on May 3rd but the active civil stance Nona is demonstrating impeded her to leave native Tbilisi that month.  

Finally the competition organized by Veteran’s Committee of the Russian Chess Federation will be held and besides the hero of the occasion will gather such well-known chessplayers as: Tatiana Zatulovskaia (Israel) Triple Olympic Champion and two-time World Champion among veterans; Valentina Kozlovskaia (Russia) Olympic Champion, the repeated champion of Russia, former Champion among veterans; Tamara Khmiadashvili (Georgia) repeated Champion of Georgia, four-time World Champion among veterans; Marta Lytynskaia (Ukraine) Champion of USSR, repeated Champion of Ukraine, former World Champion among veterans; Elena Fatalibekova (Russia) Champion of USSR, repeated Champion of Moscow, repeated Champion of Russia among veterans, triple World Champion among veterans; Tamara Vilerte (Latvia) repeated Champion of Latvia, former World Champion among veterans; Ludmila Saunina (Russia)  four-times Champion of Russia, two-time World Champion among veterans; Hanna Ere?ska-Barlo (Poland) five-time Champion of Poland, former World Champion among veterans; Ludmila Belavenets (Russia) Champion of USSR, winner of the 1st and 2nd Women Correspondence Chess Olympiad, former World Champion in Correspondence Chess.

Participants will play rapid chess on the 5th, 6th and 7th of October in one round with 25+10 time control
