St. Petersburg’s team won European Club Championship

The club "St. Petersburg Chess Federation" became a triumphant of European Club Championship among men. As well as the team “AVS” in women’s championship, the team from St. Petersburg won European Club Cup for the first time. In the final round Vladimir Bykov’s squad gained a decisive victory over “Mika”, while men team leader Svidler has lost against Gabriel Sargissian. Vadim Zviagintsev and Nikita Vitiugov not only saved the situation but Nikita also won the first prize on his second board (Noteworthy is Evgeny Tomashevsky's successful performance as he is a candidate for playing in the Russian National Team; he played on the first board of Saratov’s “Economist” and ceded his personal prize only to Teimour Radjabov who, it should be mentioned, was in a great shape).

This is the third in a row trophy Svidler is holding in his hands so far. Since the notorious failure of Russian Team at the World Championship in China, Peter is ringing the bell: victories in Superfinal of Russian Championship, in The World Cup and now in European club Championship are all to his credit.
