After the Dortmund tournament, Hou Yifan gave an interview to the German journalists Dagobert Kohlmeyer, which was published on the Chessbase website. In particular, the ex-world champion (as we must strictly call her now) said that FIDE had not informed either her or the Chinese chess federation of plans to hold the world championship match against Mariya Muzychuk in Lviv.

"And there was also no bidding process for potential organisers of the match", she added.

Thus, Hou Yifan effectively denies what Kirsan Illyumzhinov said, during his first visit to Lviv on 18 June. Then the FIDE President claimed that an official bid for the match had been received from China. "As FIDE President, I support all countries, but China has already run many chess events. By contrast, this would be the first time the Ukraine has ever hosted an event of such significance". - These words have been spoken by Illyumzhinov not only in Lviv, but in several interviews since.
