The Moscow Chess Federation is highly successful: from the Russian team championships in Sochi, Moscow teams returned with 11 sets of gold medals, plus three silver and one bronze.

The capitals beauties: Alina Kashlinskaya, Valentina Gunina, Alexandra Kosteniuk, Ekaterina Kovalevskaya and Olga Girya

In total, from 1 to 10 May there were fifteen competitions, including Rapid and Blitz. More than 60 teams participated from around the country.

The difference between the Moscow forces and many others is that its management relies only on its own people.

"This route seems more promising, even if it usually does not provide immediate results, - says the president of the Moscow Chess Federation Vladimir Palikhata. - It is important to build a pyramid - the masses, children's schools and clubs, and at the top - teams for national, European and world championships. We run the mass RSSU Cup Festival Moscow Open, gathering almost two thousand participants from around the world, within which are a variety of competitions - from elite tournaments to children, students, veterans. We are actively working on the introduction of chess into the school curriculum, and we have released a chess textbook approved by the International Chess Federation.

And, of course, we take care of the national teams, which receive financial support from the "Our Heritage" fund. At some point we decided to completely abandon recruiting the help of foreign players. This has helped to rally the team and has immediately paid off. Moscow is rich in talent, and it can manage on its own."
