Garry Kasparov has commented on as he says "hypothetical match" which should take place in Sochi. "We are less than three months away from this hypothetical match in Sochi - there's no contract, there's nothing. It is only Mr. Ilyumzhinov's announcement," he said in the recent brief interview for the commentator grandmaster Daniel King.

On Ilyumzhinov's campaign website the unsigned letter has been published (apparently we might consider Mr. President the author of the letter by default) in which som eof Kasparov's accusations are refuted. this is what the letter says about the World championship match:

"The truth is that the preparations for the Match are going according to schedule. The Match contract is signed between FIDE and the Organisers and the player contracts have been sent to Carlsen and Anand. FIDE inspected the hotels, the venue and everything is in place, as the Winter Olympics were also held there recently, and Sochi has excellent modern infrastructure and facilities. After the Chess Olympiad the representatives of the players will inspect some of the many 5-star hotels in Sochi."
