Sergey Karjakin gave an interview to Sport Express in which he told about the tournament which was held in Simferopol and was named after the 24-year-old grandmaster. The competition gathered youngsters born 1996-2006 and youinger.

"It was the initiative of the president of the Crimean Chess Federation Fedor Kiselyov," Karjakin told. "We met up in May, right when I had my honeymoon. He told me there's such an idea to invite to Simferopol over 100 children from different regions of Russia and Ukraine."

Acoording to Sergey, he didn't manage to attend the event, however, his mom awarded the winners for him.

"I will definitely try to find time and visit it next year. I think they're waiting me there. Ihave a lot of fans there and I feel their support. That's why I always feel grateful to them. Moreover, I am aware of how important it is for a child to meet the grandmaster personally, to shake hands with him and to play a game. So, I will do my best to make the tournament annual and also to be able to visit it permanently."

Karjakin is also thinking of opening a chess school in simferopol.

"I think that is a great idea. It's a one thing to be attending some kind of a study group but it is completely different when the school is named after the grandmaster, in this case if it will be carring my name. Now the city has a chess-draughts club, so no problems with a placement. There also are coaches, specialists... It won't be just another school "on paper." I seriously plan to visit it permanently and hold simuls. It won't be just work for me but also a chance to relax."
