Caruana defeats Carlsen in the line revised before the encounter

Sensational Round 4 of Gashimov Memorial brought Caruana first point - he defeated Carlsen. This is Norwegian's first loss as the world champion.

Caruana's coach Vladimir Chuchelov commented on his ward's victory specially for us:

"It wasn't hard to guess the opening, but strangely enough we also guess the line Carlsen would choose. We analysed it and Fabiano had a clear idea of what to do. We even checked the line once again before the game. So, unlike in the encounter against Karjakin, Fabiano was more self-confident today. Black was experiencing some pressure and Magnus unexpectidely blundered a pawn on c7. Nonetheless, he was worse already before the blunder - just worse according to all standards of Berlin. The position became theoretically won after winning an extra pawn, but of course you should keep concentrated till the very last move when playing against the world champion. This wasn't their first duel, they already played quite a few encounters, so we didn't really make any special preparation. That was just another routine game. Although every player tries to concentrate twice harder when playing against the world champion."
