Karjakin drew Caruana in Round 2 of Gashimov Memorial.

In the commentary for our website, grandmaster said he had a 'working' start:

"Of course I wanted to put up more problems yesterday [his rival was Radjabov - CN], but I made a quite serious mistake on 40th move and so I lost chances for gaining advantage.

...I will try to pose problems for Carlsen tomorrow. Obviously that is not the world title match or a decisive game, so I don't feel any supernormal responsibility; on the other hand, Magnus is my rival in this tournament, so I would of course like to show my best play and at least make him nervous..."

"I didn't even hesitate to accept the invitation to play at this Memorial. First of all, Vugar was my close friend, secondly, whenever I played in Azerbaijan, everything was always brilliantly organised. In this sense, the tournaments here are the best in my life. I was sure all would be great this time too - my expectations were not ruined. All is really organised at top level."
