Carlsen looking forward to impressing

Kirsan Ilyumzhinov made the first move in the world title match which is taking place in Chennai. Carlsen was white and decided to deviate fromt he popular opening lines and chose: 1.Nf3, 2.g3, 3.Bg2...

As Norwegian will say at the press conference the development in such openings usually goes slowly, while in this case the crisis position came quite quickly. According to Carlsen, having no promising continuations he was forced to go for the three-fold repetition..."

As a result the draw was registered after 16 moves.

Anand,on the other hand, said he expected 12.Qb3 instead of 12.Bc1 because after bishop move, "I can force the draw. Of course I also calculated 15...b5 (instead of 15...Na5 - CN), but I didn't see anything special there..."

Carlsen, "Would I continue playing as black in that position? I also didn't see anything special there."

Magnus also noted that he had severtal short draws at the Candidates, but later everything worked out.
