Today Garry Kasparov held a press conference with two of his team members in Tallinn.

Chess-News correspondent Evgeny Surov asked, "Why aren't there any professional chess players in your team?"

Kasparov, "Well, I understand, I am of course a retired chess player... But I guess I can give a simul to any ticket which will compete with us.

In fact, that is critics for the critics sake. [...] I am still able to demonstrate high profile chess, but I don't have those business abilities like Jan Collewaert and Rex Sinquefield; I don't have the knowledge of the continent and social issues as Afrika does, I don't have resources like Ahmed Al Hamed to help chess in regions... Well, as to Ignatius - it is indispensable to life to have a person who knows the mechanism of chess world management. aFter all we are not playing a world title match but we are trying to reform the huge organisation.

[...] As to knowledge of chess itself, I think Afrika's knowledge of the situation in African schools is much more important than Makropoulos's mythical knowledge of chess."
