The second classical game between Women's world champion Anna Ushenina and GM Peter Svidler finished quite unexpectedly. The reigning owner of the Cup who was leading in the match due to yesterday's win made a terrible blunder:

USHENINA - SVIDLER

28...Rxf2? Correct was 28...Bxf2+ 29.Kh1 Qb2 with approximate equality.
29.Qxe6+ Kh7 30.Qd7+ 1-0

At the press conference Anna said she was acquainted of the position which was on the board. On the 21st move (only seven moves prior to her opponent's blunder) she applied a novelty 21.Rd7. Earlier in Morozevich - Nepomniachtchi encounter 21.Qc1 took place.

Yesterday Svidler noted he was impressed to know that his opponent in Round 1 would be such a strong player. "You want someone easier in first round," he said.

Thus, the tiebreak scheduled for tomorrow will determine who will qualify for the next round.
