GM Evgeny Sveshnikov commented on the situation regarding Ekaterina Atalik who is playing under ECU flag in the ongoning EIWCC:

"I would like to express my support to Katya and Suat, they are good people and chess players. Pity that ACP is not trying to actively defend them. the professional chess players need to be supported in their fight for their rights. I would like to thank ECU and Silvio Danailov for his decision. By the way, recently Silvio together with the director of the Europenan Senior Championship Nikolay Velchev covered my living costs in exchange for the games I have played there. I guess nothing similar has happened in the history of Senior championships before."
