The fifth round game between Boris Gelfand and Sergey Karjakin went in a complex fight, but mostly stayed approximately equal. At the press conference the players shared stories on how they spent their free day:

"After my game against Grischuk I went to Chinese massage and I was almost killed because she was doing massage with legs and standing on me; actually I had big problems because I almost couldn't move, but after two days I feel a little bit better," Karjakin told.

"I went to the local restaurant, somewhere in the middle of nowhere," Gelfand told about his rest day adventure. "My friend came and took me there; I survived but I wasn't sure I would when I saw it, but I'm OK."
