An interesting Rapid tournament will take place in Geneva from June 26 - 30, with the participation of Vladimir Kramnik, Hikaru Nakamura, Shakhriyar Mameryarov, Judit Polgar, Etienne Bacrot, Romain Edouard, Yannick Pelletier, and Alexandra Kosteniuk.

Geneva Chess Classics will be played in an unusual format, that is explained on the official website in the following way: "The tournament will gather 8 players distributed in two groups of four players who are in confrontation in a tournament Round-Robin like Tennis Masters. Every match between 2 players consists of 2 games in the cadence of 25 minutes + 10 seconds (Fischer system) + if it’s necessary a tie-break of two games in the cadence of 4 minutes + 2 seconds (Fischer system) and after a decisive game with 4 minutes + 2 seconds for white and 3 minutes + 2 seconds for black but black needs just a draw to win the match.

Both first ones of every group are qualified for the semi-finals where the first one of the group A faces the second of the group B and the first one of the group B faces the second of the group A."
