In the interview to the Sport-Express newspaper the famous Georgian GM Zurab Azmaiparashvili, now the first deputy Minister of Sports and Youth, told he's planning to return into big chess politics.

"I'm not hiding that. Now I'm thinking where exactly I should return. Maybe I will want to head the European Chess Union or to run for the Vice-President of FIDE. I have enough time to make a choice. If I will choose heading of the ECU I will have a clear understanding of what will my four-year plan will look like, where I will save money or how I can increase the ECU budget, I will also know where to look for the sponsors and so on. I have nothing against the current ECU President Silvio Danailov but frankly speaking I expected more from his work. Unfortunately ECU hasn't got more successful - it still has no sponsors, while the office expenses increased instead of decreasing."
