As it turned out the Vietnamese women's team is not going to play at the Women's World Team Chess Championship scheduled to take place in Astana, Kazakhstan. Practically the Vietnamese team is the one instead of which Georgian team has been allowed to participate in the championship.

We have asked the captain of the Vietnamese team Mikhail Vasilyev to comment on the situation:

"According to the Regulations the winner team of the Asian championship is allowed to play at the WWTCC; so after winning the Asian championship in India we qualified to play at the World championship in Turkey. There we surpassed the Turkish team and showed a good performance. At the last Olympiad the Indian national team was among five best teams, thus giving our team the right to play at the nearest Championship. Then the unexpected things started to happen. The championship which was planned to take place in December 2013 in Turkey (where Turkish team would have the right to play as the team of the host country) was rescheduled to March, while the venue was changed to Kazakhstan. Then we all get pleasant for the chess fans information about allowing a strong and very attractive Georgian women's team to participate in the championship. People started to guess instead of which team Georgia is allowed to play. Practically today I got to know that our year long preparation was done in vain. I personally really like the Turkish team, especially because such great specialists as Mikhalchishin and Gurevich are working with it; but what should I say to the girls from the Vietnamese team? Everything happened unpredictably. FIDE's motto says "We all are one people," so it'd be good if we would be living friendly in this big chess family."
