"Carlsen can give a simul for the favourites of Dvorkovich Memorial" AUDIO

The moves worth of mentioning nowadays are played not only by Anand and not only with the help of computer analysis. Russian GM Denis Khismatullin gained his win against compatriot Alexandr Predke in Round 2 of Dvorkovich Memorial due to a brilliant combination which will surely be described in future chess workbooks.

KHISMATULLIN - PREDKE

36.Rh8!! Black resigned: taking the rook leads to inescapable checkmate, while all other moves bring to material losses.

In the interview given to our correspondent Elena Klimets Denis admitted he prepared the combination beforehand. In order it to happen Khismatullin made some preliminary moves like 32.Kg3!, 33.h3! and 35.f3!. (AUDIO of the interview is available in Russian)

Khismatullin also noted that he feels comfortable being a favourite of the competition, however, he couldn't remember if he has won at least one tournament exactly as a favourite: "Only Carlsen wins all the tournaments as a favourite; he doesn't participate in a lot of competitions though. I guess he could give a simul for the favourites here in Taganrog without spending much effort..."
