Now Grand Prix Tashkent has at the same time 5 leaders

The key encounter of Round 5 of the Grand Prix Tashkent was Ponomariov - Morozevich. Alexander Morozevich is considered to be a comfortable opponent for the ex-FIDE World Champion Ruslan Ponomariov: according to ChessBase Ponomariov leads 5-3 in the classical games account (rapid and blitz score is also in Ukrainian's favor).

Morozevich was careless and didn't feel the approaching threat.

PONOMARIOV - MOROZEVICH

24.с3 Rf6?! Morozevich shouldn't have avoided the opportunity of playing 24...e4 25.fxe4 fxe4 26.Be2 Qe5. White probably needed to play 24.c4 in order not to give a tempo. There also were some other opportunities of maintaining a slight advantage...
25.Bc2 Be6 26.Rd2 Here White has a very interesting move 26.g4!?, which would free the diagonal for the bishop.
26...a5 27.c4 Nc8? The decisive mistake. The position is surely uncomfortable for Black, however, Morozevich was not obliged to blunder tactics. He should either play 27...а4 or prepare the move by preliminary 27...Ra8.

28.Bxf5 Rxf5 Worse was 28...Bxf5 29.Nd5 Qf7 30.Nxf6 Qxf6 31.Qxf6 gxf6 32.Rd5 with a winning endgame for White.
29.Nxf5 Bxf5 30.Qh5 Rf8 31.Rd5 Kh7 32.Rdxe5 White has a huge advantage, but the final result was hastened by Russian's several inaccurate moves. 1-0

Gata Kamsky gained his first win after a dreadful string of losses. He defeated Boris Gelfand in the Dutch defence.

GELFAND - KAMSKY

The Israeli was tempted by a idea of playing the positional 17.f4 with further plan of Nf2 and е4, however Gata found a concrete refutation: 17...Qc7 18.Nf2 Rfe8 19.Kh1 (absolutely necessary preventive measures) Qb6 20.Qc2 d5!, and White fail to embody its plan. Black grabs initiative; White made another tactical blunder on 25th move which has decided the final result of the game. 0-1

In another decisive game Rustam Kasymdzhanov defeated Wang Hao.
