Caruana - Kamsky encounter is one of those decisive games played today at the Grand Prix Tashkent. Fabiano recovered from his yesterday's loss against Morozevich, while Gata on the contrary, was outplayed for the second time and becomes the outsider of the competition.

Kamsky representing US played his "favourite" variant in Slav defence - with a6 and moving the bishop to g7. On 11.c5 (exactly this kind of position hasn't taken place in practice) interesting was an immediate  11...е5 with a typical play: 12.Nxe5 Nxe5 13.dxe5 Nd7 14.f4 Qe7 15.b4 a5, then Black can move f7-f6 having enough compensation for the pawn. Gata preferred to go on with a long play, which also can be considered as his own style.

It seems that Gata made mistakes in a quite uncomfortable for him endgame23...h6, 24...g5, 26...gxf4 оnly doubled weaknesses and worked for Caruana. When the White knight took h5-square, Black already didn't have any reasonable defence.
